Overview

Colindale is becoming one of London’s fastest growing areas, with new homes and new developments happening at pace, including the opening of the new library and Barnet and Southgate College in recent years.

Over the next 10 to 15 years, 10,000 new homes and new retail, commercial and community facilities will be delivered. The scale of regeneration means that careful consideration is needed to safeguard the parking needs of local residents, businesses and visitors of the area.

The council is therefore carrying out a consultation on proposals to introduce additional Controlled Parking Zones (CPZs) in Colindale and the surrounding areas.

More information on our proposals, and detailed information on how a CPZ operates, is provided in our consultation document. An outline map of all the properties to be included in the proposed Colindale Area CPZs can be found here. As our consultation document highlights, the area has been divided in to five smaller CPZ areas, some of which fall outside the Colindale ward. The detailed individual maps of each CPZ area are provided below:

CPZ Area 1 - Montrose/Silkstream/Greenway area - includes some roads in Burnt Oak

CPZ Area 2 - Colindeep Lane/The Hyde/Rushgrove Avenue area

CPZ Area 3 - Bristol Avenue/Lanacre Avenue area

CPZ Area 4 - Grahame Park area

CPZ Area 5 - Tithe and Longfield area - includes some roads in Mill Hill

Why are we consulting?

The council has designed a parking layout for the area and values the input from local residents and businesses on the proposed Colindale Area CPZs. In particular, we would like to hear your views on:

  • whether or not you would like a CPZ introduced in your road
  • what hours and days of the week you would prefer the CPZ to operate if it were to be introduced
  • any further comments you may have on the proposed CPZ

We also welcome feedback from residents who live outside the area or who visit the area, even if they do not have access to a vehicle or are a non-driver.

The findings from the consultation will be analysed and the results will be reported to the Environment Committee who will make the final decision on whether a CPZ should be introduced in your road and what the operational hours should be. Any agreed proposals will be subject to a further statutory consultation where you will have a further opportunity to make comments. The recent consultation on the review of the existing Colindale Controlled Parking Zone will be also considered with the results of this consultation.

    We asked

We asked for your views on proposed Controlled Parking Zones (CPZs) in the Colindale area to help finalise a proposed design of CPZs in the Colindale and Burnt Oak areas.

    You said

528 full and completed questionnaires were received from inside the consultation area. The feedback was varied, and was reported to the Hendon Area Committee on 8th March 2018 who have decided to introduce CPZs in Colindale over a smaller area than previously proposed and with amendments to the proposed hours of operation of some CPZ areas. The report with the full analysis of the questionnaire responses can be found here.

    We did

Based on the feedback to the consultation, a revised design was approved, and a statutory consultation on the revised design commenced in May 2018.
