Background
The Brent Cross Cricklewood (BXC) regeneration programme is transforming the area with a vibrant new town centre, parks, retail and cultural venues. The development will be supported by excellent new transport links with the new Brent Cross West Station due to be completed in 2022, with improved highways, walking and cycling routes.
Positioned on the Midland Main Line between Hendon and Cricklewood, Brent Cross West will provide journeys from Bedford to Brighton, connecting the local area to central London in just 12 minutes and proving direct services to Luton and Gatwick airports.
A new pedestrian and cyclist overbridge will also provide a route over the Midland Main Line for residents on the east and west of Brent Cross, providing better connectivity in the area to and from the new Brent Cross Town development.
Forming part of the new station delivery, the station western entrance public realm is now in the early stages of design development, and we are asking local businesses, residents and stakeholders to help define how this space comes forward.
The public realm focuses on creating an attractive, welcoming, safe environment by promoting flexible outdoor space. As part of this public consultation, we would like to hear your views on how and why you will use the station western entrance space. Feedback will then be used to refine the public realm design before a planning application is submitted.
What we are proposing
The public realm proposal drawings are downloadable here. Key features include:
- landscaping
- cycle parking for 110 bicycles
- enhanced pedestrian crossing over Geron Way
- passenger drop off / loading bay
- provision of seating, lighting, and waste bins
- provision for a mobile coffee cart
- high quality paving

What happens after the consultation closes?
The council will use the consultation findings to inform the design of the western entrance public realm before a planning application is submitted in early 2022.
The consultation headline findings along with our changes to the concept design of the public realm are published here. The full planning application is anticipated to be available online in May 2022 by using reference 22/1895/FUL here.
