OverviewOver the past few months London Fire Brigade has worked with Londoners to create a draft Community Risk Management Plan.It&#39;s called Your London Fire Brigade. This plan meets the brigade&#39;s requirement under the Fire and Rescue national framework for England to produce an Integrated Risk Management Plan. One of the most important things this plan must do is reflect the organisation&#39;s Assessment of Risk in London and what it will do to help reduce and respond to that risk.It&rsquo;s a plan that explains how London Fire Brigade will better engage, protect, learn from, and represent London&rsquo;s communities over the coming years. Why your views matter?London Fire Brigade is undergoing considerable change. This plan is important because it&rsquo;s the first since the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower on 14 June 2017 where 72 people died. As a result of that fire, London Fire Brigade received specific recommendations from both the Grenfell Tower Inquiry (GTI) and Her Majesty&rsquo;s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS) about how we needed to improveSince then, London Fire Brigade has been committed to doing everything it can to learn the lessons from that tragedy and address those areas for improvement, but the brigade knows there&rsquo;s still more to do.Ultimately, as people who live and work in London &ndash; it&rsquo;s your concerns London Fire Brigade needs to understand and your expectations that it needs to meet, so have your say now. Your London Fire Brigade: Plan for 2023 - 2029

BackgroundThe council is the Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA) for London Borough of Barnet as stipulated under Flood and Water Management Act 2010. As an LLFA this means we are responsible for managing local flood risks from surface water, groundwater, and ordinary watercourses across the borough.<a href="https://www.barnet.gov.uk/sites/default/files/lbb_local_flood_risk_management_stratagy.pdf">Barnet&rsquo;s Local Flood Risk Management Strategy</a> has identified 33 Critical Drainage Areas (CDAs) which are at the highest risk of surface water flooding. The top ten priority CDA&rsquo;s, including Muswell Hill (CDA 014), are part of our priority flood risk management program that has been produced as part of our Local Flood Risk Management Strategy.This consultation is for the proposed flood alleviation scheme (within Muswell Hill CDA) at Halliwick Recreational Ground (N10) in Barnet. The scheme proposes to build a new flood storage detention basin in the north -eastern corner of the Halliwick Recreational ground which will store storm water during heavy rain, reducing the risk of flooding to nearby properties and highways. Benefits of the proposed schemeThe proposed scheme will be the first sustainable urban drainage scheme in the borough. In addition to providing flood mitigation benefits, the scheme will provide environmental, amenity benefits for the local residents and biodiversity and habitat enhancements. The flood storage basin will also provide water quality benefits by treating the storm water runoff from the highways. Scheme details and how the scheme will lookThe scheme will divert the rainwater from Albion Avenue (N10) into a shallow drainage channel along the existing footpath in the recreation ground and then store it in a basin in the north-eastern corner of the Halliwick Recreational ground. What we are consulting onThe scheme is now being moved into Detailed Design and Construction stage and we want to hear your views on our proposals, so that we can gather your feedback at an early stage, before the detailed designs are finalised. We are very interested to hear from local residents specially along The Vale, Albion Avenue, George Crescent and other adjacent streets about their past flooding experiences. How to have your say:Attend an engagement event in the Recreational ground.An engagement event on the proposed scheme has been organised for 19 June in the Halliwick Recreation Ground, where we will be happy to share more information on the scheme and capture any initial feedback from local residents.The event will also be used to highlight the benefits are of such schemes and help raise awareness of the flood risk and impacts of climate change within the local community.Regular engagement events will then be organised in the Recreation Ground throughout the summer and autumn and the dates will be published on this page.
