About the Project
We secured £3.6million of Capital funding via the Housing and Growth Committee to invest into improving your Town Centre. Using this fund, Barnet Council has commissioned a team of specialist consultants including Erect Architecture, Civic Engineers and Studio Dekka to design proposals to improve the public space to celebrate the unique local identity of Burnt Oak and identify community design principles to inform changes to the High Street to boost the High Street as a destination to enjoy and businesses to thrive. These became the ‘Burnt Oak Vision’ below.
How can we be involved?
Through the project, we have been engaging with key local community groups via workshops including young people at UNITAS, visually impaired at Inclusion Barnet and members of our community group – The Burnt Oak Partnership Board to ensure we co-produce a town centre which is suitable for everyone. If you would like to share your views on the High Street or find out when the next engagement session is, please email burntoak@erectarchitecture.co.uk or join the Burnt Oak Partnership Board mailing list by emailing towncentres@barnet.gov.uk with ‘Burnt Oak Public Space Improvements’ in the subject title. We would love for you to be involved. Alternatively, our Public Consultation for the concept proposals is now live and there is still time to comment.Give us your feedback here.
Cllr Anne Clarke, Cabinet Member for Community Wealth Building said: "We would like to thank all the residents who have already participated in this project, including those involved through the Burnt Oak Partnership Board. Now we want to hear everyone's feedback, particularly from local residents who live, work, shop, study, or own businesses in the area. Your valuable insights will continue to help us make informed design decisions to improve the public space in Burnt Oak Town Centre.
“I would also like to invite residents to join the Burnt Oak Partnership Board which meets regularly to keep the community updated on town centre projects.”
