Overview

In Barnet, like many other local authorities, we have a system of parking bays and parking permits that prioritises parking for local residents, businesses and their visitors and customers. These systems are called Controlled Parking Zones (CPZ).

We have received representations from the Hendon area raising concerns that there is increased parking pressure on some of the roads during the hours that the Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) is not operational. They have requested a review of the existing operational hours. We have also received petitions and other representations from the neighbouring roads outside the CPZ requesting the introduction

We have also received petitions and other representations from the neighbouring roads outside the CPZ requesting the introduction of parking controls.

What we are proposing

We are carrying out a consultation with the residents and businesses in the area to help in understanding which roads are experiencing parking pressure, whether the current operational times are managing current parking demands and whether there could be a need to make changes to the existing operational hours. The neighbouring roads that have requested parking controls will also be consulted. As part of the parking review investigations, we have engaged the services of an external firm to carry out parking stress surveys and provide a detailed study of the parking situation.
