Help us shape the future of Barnet

We are developing a new Corporate Plan that will focus on caring for our people, our places and the planet. We want to know: 'What does Barnet mean to you ?' and 'What is important to you in terms of having a council that cares for its people, places and planet?'

We want to hear what you think and what needs to change to ensure we are focused on our people, our places, and the planet. Your views will help us shape our new Corporate Plan and the required Transformation

Your views will help us shape our new Corporate Plan and the required Transformation Plan that will help us achieve this.

We are looking for Barnet residents to join us in a series of workshops exploring themes including tackling climate change, creating safe and attractive neighbourhoods, thriving town centres, being a family friendly place, supporting people to be healthy and independent and being a fun place to live and visit.

We'll explore what it would look like to achieve these ambitions, and what change is needed, within the council and beyond, to get there.

How to have your say – join a workshop

We’re holding two workshops for residents to have their say. The workshops will be on:

  • Wednesday 16 November from 6.00pm – 8.30pm in person at Stephens House and Gardens (Finchley)
  • Wednesday 23 November from 6.00 – 8.30pm online via Microsoft Teams

The workshops will be in an informal, interactive, inclusive and hopefully enjoyable format, and will also enable you to connect and hear from other local people who care about the future of Barnet.

The workshops will be hosted by Collaborate CIC who have been commissioned to undertake this work on behalf of Barnet Council.

As an appreciation of your time and participation we are offering those who attend a workshop a £50 online shopping voucher.

How to register to attend a workshop

To register your interest in attending the workshop, please complete this short survey. In it, we ask a few questions about you. Collaborate will use this information to recruit a cross section of our communities to be represented at the workshops. In particular, they will look to include:

  • a mix of residents from different areas of Barnet and different demographics
  • people who have lived in the borough for different amounts of time, have different employment statuses and a mix of caring responsibilities.

Please register your interest by Sunday 13 November. If you get allocated a place, Collaborate will contact you by Monday 14 November to provide further details.

If you have any problems completing the form or need the information in a different format, please contact tajwar@collaboratecic.com

If we are oversubscribed for the workshops and you don’t get a place on this occasion, Collaborate, with your permission, will share your details with the council who will keep your details on file and aim to ensure you are invited to future events on this topic.

What happens after the workshops?

The findings from this workshop will be reviewed alongside information from workshops with Members, staff, partners and voluntary, community and faith organisations. This will be used to shape the council’s Corporate Plan and Transformation Plan, which will be published in Spring 2023.
