Your views on renaming Silkstream Park and Montrose Playing Fields

This consultation has now closed.

We are making improvements to Silkstream Park in Burnt Oak and Montrose Playing Fields in Colindale. The parks run adjacent to each other and both have the river Silk Stream running through them. The new improvements have been designed so that the parks complement each other.

We have already asked residents what improvements and facilities they would like to see in the two parks. When complete residents will be able to enjoy:

  • two new play areas
  • a new skatepark
  • a multi-use games area
  • outdoor gym equipment
  • new toilets
  • a new cafe
  • a new biodiversity area with more planting.

As well as these extra facilities, we are planting 300 new trees, adding more litter bins and benches, and installing new energy efficient LED lighting.

We are also joining the two parks together to become one park, with new improved crossing points and joined cycle paths.

As part of these improvements we would like to ask your view on renaming the parks. Should the names stay the same? Or should the parks have a whole new start and be renamed? The new name we are proposing is Silkstream Valley Park as the Silk Stream brook runs through and links both parks.
