Consultation has concluded

Overview

Dollis Infant and Dollis Junior Schools are consulting on the possible establishment of an all-through primary school (ages 2 – 11 years old) to replace the existing Dollis Infant and Dollis Junior Schools.

In reality, children, parents and staff would see very little difference between how the two schools currently work and how a single school would work in the future. We are not proposing to build a new school; instead the two existing school buildings will continue to be used by the new Primary School. In parallel we are also taking this opportunity to explore how the new combined site might be better used to plan for an even better learning environment.

The main difference for parents if a single school were established would be to remove the need for them to apply for places in the Junior School at the end of Year 2. Instead, once children are admitted to the school, they would be guaranteed a place there until they go to secondary school. All existing students would automatically enrol at the “new” school on 1 April 2019.

Creating a primary school would require the closure of one of the existing schools, whilst extending the age range of the other to provide an all-through primary school for children aged 2 -11. The proposal is to close Dollis Junior School and extend the age range of Dollis Infant School. The ‘new’ primary school would be called Dollis Primary School.

Additional information on the benefits of creating an all-through primary school can be found in the attached Consultation Document.

You are invited to consultation meetings so that you can find out more about the proposed amalgamation. The meetings will be held at:

  • Dollis Infant School Thursday 15 November 2018 at 6.30pm
  • Dollis Junior School Friday 16 Novembe rat 9.30am.
