Have your say on our housing-related strategies and policies

Everyone deserves a place to live. A home is not only a source of shelter, but a safe place to live, relax, work, and develop roots within a community. It is a protected place for children to grow up, play, and learn.

We are currently reviewing four of our housing-related of strategies and policies that are aimed at improving the availability, quality, and sustainability of housing in the borough. We want to hear your views on these updated strategies and our updated policy for allocating social housing in Barnet:

  • Housing Strategy
  • Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy
  • Housing Allocation Scheme
  • Tenancy Strategy (this consultation has now closed)

We are keen to give everyone who lives in Barnet the opportunity to have their say on these important documents. Listening to the views and concerns of residents and communities is an important part of the development of our new strategies and policy. The consultation is an opportunity for you to give your views and help shape our approach to housing-related issues in the borough.

We also want to hear from other interested parties including our partner organisations that will be affected by these documents, such as other registered providers of social housing in Barnet, other public authorities, voluntary organisations, and other organisations and individuals who contribute to these activities.

What will happen after the consultations close?

We will use the consultation findings to inform the final versions of the new Housing Strategy 2023-28, Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy 2023-28, Housing Allocation Scheme, and Tenancy Strategy, which we expect to be presented to the Cabinet in the summer of 2023.
