Overview
We are proposing to extend the duration of the Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) for alcohol related nuisance and anti-social behaviour (ASB) in the Burnt Oak, Childs Hill and Edgware town centre areas, These PSPOs were introduced in 2018 under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. They replaced the former borough wide Designated Public Place Order, which lapsed on the 20th October 2017.
The current PSPOs allow the council to impose restrictions and conditions in a specific area to help deal with behaviour such as public intoxication, being rowdy and inconsiderate, swearing and shouting, urinating in the street or any other behaviour that is considered to be detrimental to the local community’s quality of life.
We have provided more background information on these PSPOs on our website.
In addition, the existing PSPOs referred to, with their maps, are also available on our website.
We want to give everyone, regardless of whether they live in Barnet or not, the opportunity to have their say on the proposal before a decision is made.
