Overview

Barnet has a great collection of parks and open spaces and these are an important part of what makes Barnet a green and family friendly borough. This consultation is asking for your views on proposed improvements to Barnet and King George V Playing Fields (location is on the map at the bottom of the page). We previously asked for your thoughts on possible options for the site and, using this feedback, we developed a draft Master Plan which was approved by the council’s Environment Committee in March. Now we are undertaking full public consultation on this draft Master Plan

Now we are undertaking full public consultation on this draft Master Plan.

Background

In 2017, Barnet Council developed a Parks and Opens Spaces Strategy and Playing Pitch Strategy which reviewed the parks and put forward suggestions for their development. One of these was to explore options for the development of a sports hub at Barnet and King George V Playing Fields. In line with the strategies' recommendations, and following a procurement exercise, the council appointed The Sport, Leisure and Culture Consultancy (SLC) to undertake an appraisal of the options available to the council for the development of improved sports and community facilities at Barnet and King George V Playing Fields. This options appraisal has subsequently informed the development of a draft masterplan for the site. For more information on how the draft Master Plan has been developed please read our FAQ document.
