Meet Jay – Owner of Natural Health
Ballards Lane, N12 8LJ

Natural Health in North Finchley is a family run health shop on Ballards Lane which was started by Jay’s father 30 years ago. It is well known in the area for its welcoming atmosphere and knowledgeable staff.

‘My dad has seen many local people coming here over the years and now their children shop here too. We have a lovely relationship with our customers, and we adapt to what they need. We offer free advice with no obligation to buy any products, we strive to be eco-friendly and we’re moving towards being zero waste – so people can bring a container to refill household products. We also have a clinic where we offer a medical herbalist and massage therapy.

We were very fortunate that we were able to continue to trade during lockdown. We offered delivery services so people could order items – particularly the elderly and vulnerable – and we delivered to people who were unable to come into the shop. There’s not so many people coming now, but we’re very grateful to the people who have been continuing to support us.

I would really encourage everyone to support local businesses, otherwise our high street will just look like any other. We’re known for the personalised service we offer our customers - we do this for the passion. So please continue to support independents.'
