Brent Cross Cricklewood Experimental Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) UC5 – GG Zone
At Barnet Council, like any other borough, we have a system of parking bays and parking permits that prioritises parking for residents, businesses and their visitors and customers. These systems are called Controlled Parking Zones.
In 2023, we introduced parking controls on a temporary basis, known as an Experimental Controlled Parking Zone (ECPZ) on Brent Terrace, Clitterhouse Crescent, Clitterhouse Road and a section of Claremont Road in the NW2 area. This was implemented to address existing parking issues and prevent non-resident parking in the area. After a formal consultation, we made this first phase of the area-wide CPZ permanent in 2024. Barnet Council has monitored the impact on parking in the wider area through surveys that took place in November 2023, June 2024 and August 2024. The results of the surveys show that there has been an increase in the levels of parking on most of the roads in the area over the last 12 months, including in the Golders Green Estate area included Quantock Gardens, Cotswold Gardens, Cleveland Gardens, Grampian Gardens, Cumbrian Gardens, Chiltern Gardens, Malvern Gardens, Cheviot Gardens, Purbeck Drive, Pennine Drive and Mendip Drive. The survey identified the following:
- There is heavy parking demand on Cotswold, Cleveland, Cumbrian, Chiltern and Cheviot Gardens as well as Pennine Drive. Potential impact from the CPZ in Brent Terrace, Clitterhouse Crescent and Clitterhouse Road could exacerbate demand.
- The busiest street in area includes Mendip Drive, followed by Quantock Gardens, Chiltern Gardens, Pennine Drive and Malvern Gardens.
- Future changes in the area including the new activities at Clitterhouse Playing Fields could increase pressure on Golders Green Estate, especially Cleveland Gardens.
- Access issues for residents to and from private driveways.
- Potential impact on local businesses and services including GP and dental service situated on Pennine Drive.
