Assistive technology, sometimes referred to as care technology, is a service that helps to support people to live independently.
The council does not currently charge for assistive technology, although does have the flexibility to do so as it is a non-statutory service. Many other local authorities charge for these services to reflect part of the cost incurred by the council in arranging this support for residents. Some local authorities charge the full cost of these services, Barnet are not proposing that, but do wish to consult on seeking a reasonable contribution for services which would cost residents more if secured privately.
