We would like to thank the 520 Barnet young people who were interviewed, without their valuable input the survey would not have been possible.
The survey provides important insight on what young people think about living in the borough, their perception of the council, the services they receive, and also help us understand young people’s priorities and concerns. The findings will be used to inform our Children and Young People’s Plan.

The survey provides important insight on what young people think about living in the borough, their perception of the council, the services they receive, and also help us understand young people’s priorities and concerns. The findings will be used to inform our Children and Young People’s Plan.
The council is currently conducting a face-to-face Young People's Perception Survey with a sample of 500 young residents, aged 11-18 from across the borough. The council and its partners want to know how young people feel about their local area, and how their views compare to the adult survey. Going forward the survey will be administered once a year so that we can monitor our performance and make improvements in order to continue to deliver excellent services.
To ensure a cross section of Barnet's young people is represented, Westco set quotas on age, gender and ethnicity. The interviews will be taking place at various locations across the borough from 7th October to 24 November 2017.
Parental permission is being asked of those children under 16 years old.
The council has commissioned Westco Ltd, an independent market research company, to conduct this survey.
