In Barnet there are opportunities all across the borough helping people work towards a rewarding career, and businesses to develop a talented workforce ready for the future.
Barnet Council alone employs apprentices in its schools, social care services, gardening and grounds work teams, street cleaning and rubbish collection departments, and back-office roles. It is prioritising working with employers across all sectors to encourage greater use of apprenticeships, internships and other entry points to work at all levels.
Some of the amazing apprentices and their employers, who are helping build a future ready, sustainable borough have shared their stories with us:
Matt, Insight and Intelligence Technical Lead
Matt was able to access a prestigious Multiverse apprenticeship, gain useful new skills as well as a Level 4 industry-recognised qualification – all whilst getting paid! An experienced numbers guy, this position gave him support and confidence in improving his writing skills, adding yet another string to his bow, and helping to shape him into the well-rounded analyst he is today.
Zoe, Learning and Development Apprentice
Starting as part of the Kickstart project, Zoe chose L&D as the next step in her career path. Zoe was pleased that she could be her authentic self in the workplace and showcase her strengths – her creativity - as well as work on her improvement areas – timekeeping! Her dream is to be a member of the corporate L&D team in five years.
Richard, Senior Analyst
Richard applied for this apprenticeship as he was open to new opportunities, improving his technical skills and meeting new people, the time has whizzed by for him. Although challenging, he found the course interesting, fun and insightful and has encouraged him to further his career with another apprenticeship, with Multiverse.
