Overview

We are currently consulting on our updated Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion Policy 2020 -2024.

We want Barnet to be a borough where every person can live, work and study in an environment free from harassment and discrimination. We want to help create a borough where people support each other to take control of their own lives, optimise their independence and make a difference in their local communities. We recognise that we can only do this by working together with our partners and communities. That’s why we want to hear what you think about our new Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion Policy.

Our Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion Policy was last updated in 2013. This new policy and its action plan have been updated to reflect the progress that has been made since then. It reaffirms our commitment to advance equality, promote community cohesion and tackle discrimination, that still exists locally, nationally and world-wide, as highlighted further by the COVID-19 pandemic and the brutal killing of George Floyd.

The consultation is open to all our residents as well as people who visit or work in the borough. We also welcome feedback from organisations and community groups.

We hope this consultation will engage local groups and residents in a continuing dialogue about equalities and community cohesion in Barnet.

To find out more about our policy and our ambitions for the borough please read our consultation document.
