Riaz is the owner of Stonewines, an independent wine and craft beer shop in Whetstone. Stonewines is also an accredited training provider, offering qualifications for people in the local community who are considering a career in wines, spirits or the hospitality industry. When restrictions allow, they also host a variety of events and wine tastings in their shop.
“If you come and visit us, we’ll make sure we can spend time with you to offer expertise and help you make the right purchase.
“I’m a strong believer in investing in the local community. If you put your money into a local business, then we have a duty to then recycle that money, work with other local businesses, and effectively regenerate the local community and economy.
“For example, the coffee we sell is from a local supplier, Campbell and Syme, who are in East Finchley, and even the fittings in this shop – for example, the shelves, the tables, even the blinds in the window were all made by other local businesses. So if you shop locally, we are effectively recycling that money and ensuring it goes to other local people and businesses – which regenerates the local community.”
