Changing the way we organise and deliver Early Help Services for families in Barnet including:

  • Family Support Services
  • Children’s Centres and Services
  • Youth Centres and Services

Overview

In Barnet, we provide a range of information, advice and activity services for children, young people and their families. This includes targeted support to help those in the early stages of any problems they may face. We call these services ‘Early Help Services’.

Over the last eighteen months we have been reviewing our Early Help Services and the way we work with partner organisations that also provide services to help families in Barnet. This review has included feedback from the families who have used our services; staff and partners who work with our families; Ofsted, and looking at best practice in other areas.

This consultation seeks your views on proposals we have developed to improve Early Help Services so we can achieve the best possible outcomes for families whilst making best use of our resources.

In summary we are proposing:

  • To co-locate services for children and young people of all ages so they are accessible and delivered from more locations closer to the families they are serve.
  • To refocus and restructure our professional staff to work with children and young people of all ages thus focusing on the needs of the whole family.
  • To test options for delivering some of our non-statutory services

We want to give everyone, regardless of whether they currently use Early Help Services, the opportunity to have their say on the proposals before a decision is made. We will take your views and opinions on board.
