Reading for wellbeing and enjoyment
Reading has long been associated with wellbeing and good mental health, as well as offering a source of support and information.
Reading for pleasure is hugely beneficial for everyone. Libraries’ Reading Friends groups embrace this idea. These are not reading groups that require everyone to read the same book. They are an informal opportunity to meet people with a shared interest in books and talk about what you are reading, books you’d like to recommend and books that have been turned into film and TV. If you are interested in getting involved please email libraryevents@barnet.gov.uk.
Barnet Libraries is also hosting several live author events online. Inga Vesper talks about her book ‘The Long, Long Afternoon’ on Wednesday 28 April and Ruth Pavey will be discussing her book 'Deeper into the Woods' on Wednesday 26 May. All events are FREE and include a Q&A. Find out more and booking information.
