Barnet Health Champions are a network of people who live, work or study in the borough, who are passionate about the health and wellbeing of their community.

Barnet Health Champions was step up in November 2020, as a direct response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It began as a way to empower Barnet residents to stay up to date with the latest COVID-19 guidance and advice. It has also enabled two-way communication, between Barnet residents and Public Health Barnet.

The Health Champion network has now broadened to encompass wider health topics. The focus is: mental health and wellbeing; childhood immunisations; COVID-19 vaccinations and cardiovascular disease prevention.

What can you expect?

You will receive the latest information about health and wellbeing in Barnet. Share this with your friends, family, work colleagues and your wider networks.

You are encouraged to feedback your community's health and wellbeing issues, needs and concerns.

The role is flexible to fit around how much time you can give, and you can choose how much you want to get involved. You can attend Information sessions (on Zoom) and share the information that you feel is most relevant to your networks. There are also opportunities to take the role in-person, into the community, at specific local events.

Our information sessions focus on different topics, with specific speakers. Recent topics have included; young persons’ mental health support services available in Barnet, updates about the COVID-19 vaccination roll-out and childhood immunisations statistics in the borough.

These sessions run every other Thursday during term time, 7 - 8pm, via Zoom.

We produce a whole range of resources, from information on COVID-19 vaccines to signposting to specific services.
