Due to a reduction in COVID-19 cases, more restrictions were lifted this week as part of the roadmap out of lockdown.

You can meet outdoors, either in a group of six (from any number of households), or in a group of any size from up to two households, including in outdoor hospitality venues and outdoor attractions.

You can only meet indoors with people from your household or support bubble.

Shops, hair/beauty salons and hospitality venues

All non-essential shops, hairdressers, beauty salons, and public buildings such as libraries and community centres can open.

Outdoor hospitality venues can open, but only with table service.

Each of the borough's 21 town centres have undergone enhanced street cleansing ahead of the re-opening.

Indoor leisure centres

Indoor leisure centres, including gyms and swimming pools, will open. You can only use them by yourself or with your household.

To ensure customer safety, all customers must book in advance of their session. More info here.

Parks and outdoor leisure facilities

Parks and outdoor sport venues and facilities such as outdoor gyms, sports courts, and multi-use games areas are also open. You can take part in formally organised outdoor sports with any number of people.

Sports courts are now available for booking. Whilst outdoor group exercise is allowed, it is important that activity is conducted safely. Any organised sports or activity booking must be licenced appropriately by emailing a request to parks@barnet.gov.uk.

Events in parks will also be gradually reintroduced. Please visit the council website for a list of upcoming events. For events bookings and more information, please contact Barnet@theeventumbrella.com

Additional litter bins have been installed in our parks with more on the way.

Weddings and funerals

Weddings, civil partnership ceremonies, and wakes can take place with up to 15 people, including in indoor venues that are allowed to open.

Wedding receptions can also take place with up to 15 people, but must take place outdoors (this does not include private gardens).

Funerals can go ahead with up to 30 people.

Places of worship

All places of worship including churches, synagogues and mosques are open and must be COVID secure. Visitors must keep a social distance from those not in their household and wear a face covering indoors. More details here

Libraries

Libraries will be reintroducing services gradually over the coming weeks and months.

The pre-booked PC service will resume at most libraries during the week starting 12th April. Please check the libraries webpage for more information.

The Select and Collect Service will continue for the immediate future and will resume at New Barnet Library.

We plan to start to open some libraries for customer browsing very soon. More details will be published on our website in due course.

Please stay safe and remember Hands Face Space Fresh Air!
