"We're brothers and we've always been close. We decided to do everything together, to always help each other. We enjoy it. Growing up in Turkey we learnt from our parents to look after and share with others. Our father would say, 'Respect each other. Respect everyone. And if someone is being aggressive to you, protect yourself but don't fight back’. He used to work for the council in Turkey and he's retired now, but he's going to take control of the Turkish Cultural Centre in Adana soon. They have a big kitchen to serve food to people who need it. Our father and mother always taught us that you can't be happy if others are unhappy. If you are feeling full-up and you see others who need food or money, you have to help them. So we've always helped the homeless with free food, letting them choose dishes from the menu, not just during COVID. Sometimes when we offer people food they say, 'No, we need money', but we say, 'Sorry, it's food only', or we might offer them some work to do. We also have a tuition centre in Turkey and we support some of the students there through school, particularly those with special needs, which makes us feel very happy. We try to do whatever we can. This is our way. It's our personalities but also our upbringing.

“Since the pandemic we've been helping Barnet Hospital too. When their kitchens closed down, we were sending them food for their patients at a third of its normal price, with dessert at no charge. We could only do small things, because our business was affected as well. But we’ve been here in Chipping Barnet for nearly 2 years now, and we love Barnet and this area. People are really friendly here. We love to serve them, and they love us as well.”
