Events in Parks Consultation

Overview

The Council already has a successful, extensive and varied events calendar for our parks in Barnet which we are looking to develop further with a new Events in Parks Policy. The policy will aim to:

• ensure there are local events for local people
• make better use of parks and open spaces
• generate income which contributes to the overall budget for improvements to and maintenance of parks
• explore the introduction of private events

As part of this, an extensive consultation took place between 4th November 2011 and 16th January 2012 which was designed to gather residents’ opinions on the formalisation of the policy and to help understand if there were any key areas that the Council needed to address. The consultation also explored the possibility of extending the policy to include a private event category.

For your reference, here is a headline interim report on the consultation findings, the results of which will feed into the council's decision making process. We have also produced a document which includes answers to frequently asked questions about the Policy which were captured during the consultation period.

What happens next

The Greenspaces team are now using the results from the consultation to revise the Events in Parks Policy. A headline interim report on the consultation findings is provided at the bottom of this page.

A full report, including the detailed consultation findings, will be presented to Cabinet for a decision later this year. Once the date of the Cabinet meeting has been confirmed we shall update this page with the full  report and details of the meeting.
