On 17 May, Change, Grow, Live (CGL) Barnet welcomed 102 people to their open day, showcasing drug and alcohol advice and treatment support available to Barnet residents.

Guests were able to find out more about the support available in Barnet, including medical interventions, Barnet’s needle and syringe programme, recovery support, and advice.

Thirty two people opted for ‘on-the-spot’ free testing for Hepatitis C & B and HIV, and also took the opportunity to get a Hepatitis B vaccination on the day.

Barnet’s Stop Smoking Team were on hand to provide information about the harms of smoking and support to help quit, as well as offering free carbon monoxide checks – a very quick and simple breath test which measures the level of carbon monoxide in your lungs.

The Fibroscan Team from the Royal Free London demonstrated how liver checks are done, and Polish speaking Narcotics Anonymous were also there, sharing information about the support group they run locally in Barnet.
